Michigan State University Shooting

A gunman opened fire on Michigan State University’s campus, killing three students, severely wounding five more. This spread terror across yet another school community that was shaken by an act of gun violence.

Michigan State University students, staff, administrators, alumni, faculty and family members grieved and supported one another.

The Michigan State Spartan community occupied the landmarks on campus and beyond, to the communities where the students grew up, embraced one another and filled each space with silence.

Prof. Marco Díaz-Muñoz, whose classroom at Berkey Hall was entered by the gunman where 7 students were shot and 2 were killed. “It looked like a robot, not someone human, covered with a mask and a cap,” he recalled. “It seemed just unreal.”
